KoreanConvenienceStores.ca is a project of the Ontario Korean Businessmen's Association. We are 2,300 corner store owners around the Greater Toronto Area, employing more than 10,000 people.
By checking the ID of all customers who buy our cigarettes, our corner stores are the front line against youth smoking. But in recent years, our neighbourhoods have been invaded by organized crime, smuggling in illegal cigarettes manufactured on Indian reserves. These criminals don't ID kids -- in fact, they target them on purpose, selling to high school students out of the trunk of a car.
That's why we're launching our campaign to fight back against illegal cigarettes: illegal cigarettes hurt our kids, cost taxpayers billions of dollars and support organized crime.
But we've got a plan to fight back for our communities.
